Sri Lanka have stormed into the top six of the latest ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings following their 2-0 ODI series win over India at home. Sri Lanka’s monumental leap came after their stunning ODI series win over the 2024 T20 World Cup champions, which sent shockwaves through the cricketing world and pushed England into the latest ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings.

Sri Lanka’s cricket team, known for their unpredictable style and fierce competitiveness, won a historic bilateral ODI series against India on Wednesday, August 7 in Colombo, and this triumph propelled them to sixth place in the latest ICC ODI Team Rankings, pushing England to number seven.

Meanwhile, India, the undisputed giant of ODI cricket, have maintained their position at the top of the latest ICC ODI team rankings despite suffering two consecutive defeats in the recent three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. India’s dominance remains undiminished by the recent setbacks in Sri Lanka.

India remains the number one team in the latest ICC ODI Team Rankings with 118 rating points, followed by Australia (116), South Africa (112), Pakistan (106) and New Zealand (101) at second, third, fourth and fifth place respectively. On the other hand, Sri Lankan team is at sixth place with 97 rating points while England is at seventh place with 95 rating points.

West Indies (78), Bangladesh (53) and Ireland (26) completed the top 10 in the latest ICC ODI Team Rankings. On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma finished the Sri Lanka ODI series as the leading run-scorer with 157 runs from three games, propelling him up the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings.

With a one-place gain, Rohit (763 rating points) displaced Virat Kohli (752 rating points) one spot to fourth and became the third-highest batsman in the latest ICC ODI Rankings for Batsmen. Pakistan captain Babar Azam (824 rating points) remained the number one batsman in the ODI rankings, followed by Indian opener Shubman Gill (782 rating points) at second spot in the updated rankings.

Meanwhile, Indian bowler Kuldeep Yadav made huge strides in the updated ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings. With five spots gained, Kuldeep became the joint-fourth best bowler in the latest bowling rankings alongside teammate Mohammed Siraj, both with 662 rating points. South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj leads the table with 716 rating points in the ICC rankings.

In the all-rounders category, Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi remained the number one all-rounder with 320 rating points in the latest ICC Men’s ODI All-Rounders Rankings. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja missed the tour of Sri Lanka, thus seeing a significant drop in their rankings.
