Hotel room rates in Ahmedabad saw a significant increase on October 15, following the announcement of the India-Pakistan match. Rates on various hotel booking websites reached almost ten times their usual price, indicating the high demand among fans of the match.
Room rentals have experienced a significant increase, and prices have increased almost tenfold. Some hotels charge close to Rs 1 lakh for a room, while many are already fully booked by match day. Luxury hotels usually charge Rs 5,000-8,000 per room on normal days.

According to ‘Booking dot Com’, the Welcome Hotel by ITC Hotels charges Rs 5,699 for a deluxe room on July 2, but the rate goes up to Rs 71,999 on October 15. The Renaissance Ahmedabad Hotel on SG Highway has a rate of Rs 90,679. On match day.
Similarly, the Pride Plaza Hotel on SG Highway has increased its rent to Rs 36,180 for that day. Even budget options like the Cama Hotel on Sabarmati Riverfront have increased their rental prices significantly, from Rs 3000 to Rs 27,233.

Five-star hotels in Ahmedabad such as ITC Narmada, Courtyard by Marriott, Hyatt and Taj Skyline are fully booked by October 15 due to overwhelming demand. The Gujarat Hotel and Restaurant Association (HRA) has confirmed that the price increases were increased according to demand.

According to Abhijeet Deshmukh, spokesperson for HRA-Gujarat, the rate increase is a result of high demand for specific dates.
“If hoteliers think that the demand is very high for a particular period, they will try to get some revenue because they are assured that the rooms will be full despite the higher rates. once the demand falls, he room rentals are come down too”, Deshmukh said.

“Since their first choice would be luxury hotels and they plan ahead, they may have started reserving rooms at hotels in the city, which could have resulted in some of the hotels not being occupied.” said the spokesman.
