India Women to tour Bangladesh for 5 T20Is in April-May 2024

Bangladesh will host the Indian women’s national cricket team for a five-match T20I series in April and May 2024. The T20I series will be played after Bangladesh’s ODI and T20I series against Australia Women and play against a tough team like India It will help them enhance their preparations for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in the country in October this year.

As per BCB’s draft itinerary, all matches will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium between April 28 and May 9. The Indian team will arrive on April 25 for the series, which is not part of the ICC Future Tour programme.

Bangladesh will host India in a five-match T20I series

Before the India series, the Bangladesh women’s cricket team will also play against Australia. The Australian team’s tour of Bangladesh will begin on March 21 and end on April 4. Australia is scheduled to play a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.

All matches of the Australia series will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Some Australian players will arrive on March 16, while those participating in the current WPL will arrive on March 17, according to Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh Cricket Board Women’s Cricket Director Habibul Bashar while talking to Cricbuzz mentioned that the series against India and Australia will be a great preparation for Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup. The team hopes to compete against both teams and achieve a positive result. If Bangladesh can beat India and Australia, this will definitely boost the confidence of the players.

Habibul Bashar said: “I think this will be an opportunity for us to know where we stand going into the T20 World Cup playing Australia and India. “We are looking forward to competing against them and if we can achieve a positive result it will certainly boost the confidence of our team considering everyone knows the value of beating teams like India and Australia.”

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh women’s cricket team will begin their preparations for the upcoming home series against Australia with a spinning camp in Dhaka from February 28 to March 2. Later, he will conduct a skills and fitness camp in Khulna from March 4 to 16.

India and Australia are among the top three teams in women’s cricket. Both teams have played the final of the 2018 T20 World Cup and also the semi-final of the 2023 T20 World Cup. India also qualified for the final of the ODI World Cup in 2017 and has also shown brilliant cricket in the last few years.

With players like Harmapreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Varma and Deepti Sharma, the team is star-studded and will once again be favorites come the T20 World Cup 2024.

India also toured Bangladesh in 2023, in which they played a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series. While the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team was able to win the T20I series by 2-1, the ODI series was tied 1-1 as the last match of the series ended in a draw.
