Gautam Gambhir has finally opened up about the incident. He said it was a discussion between the two individuals on the field and took Naveen-ul-Haq’s position because he felt he was absolutely right. He admitted that if his team’s pacemaker was wrong, he would never have supported it. Speaking to News 18 Hindi, he said:

“I have a lot of fights on the cricket pitch, I always keep them confined to the cricket pitch. A lot of people said a lot of things and demanded that I give interviews for TRP. No need for a flashback, it was an argument between two people that happened on the cricket ground. If it had happened outside you would have called it a fight, it was just two people wanting to win for their team.

“I’ll just say this and not go into too many details, and I’ll say what I did, what I’ll stand behind as I did for a person who was absolutely right in that match. If I felt that Naveen Ul-Haq did nothing wrong, it was my responsibility to be with him. If my teammate is wrong, I will never support him.”
