Shahrukh Khan expressed his joy after being picked by the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. He spoke about his excitement to play alongside his ‘hero’ David Miller and said that he is a big fan of the South African player .
As expected, Shahrukh Khan was among one of the topics of the IPL 2024 auction. He was signed by the Gujarat Titans for INR 7.40 and will play under the leadership of young Shubman Gill in next year’s tournament, the Narendra Stadium being Modi Ahmedabad its stadium.
Shahrukh Khan sparked a bidding war between his former franchise Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans. But thanks to the big purse, GT acquired his services. His presence makes last year’s runners-up even stronger as they will now have the likes of Rahul Tewatia and David Miller alongside them as finalists.
Shahrukh Khan played for Punjab Kings in the last two years and played a pivotal role for the team. His ability to hit the ball cleanly sets him apart from others, and he can also move his arm, making him a vital cog for any team.
Shahrukh Khan will join David Miller as a finisher in GT and it is fair to say that their combination can be a game-changer for the team in no time. The hard-hitting hitter will have a baggage of expectations heading into the league that could bring out the best in him.
Shahrukh Khan said he has been a big fan of David Miller for the last 10 years and praised his ability to stay calm under pressure. He added that he will be ready for whatever role the team asks him to play and that he is delighted to join Gujarat Titans. In statements to the stations, he explained:
“I’ve been a big fan of his for the last 10 years. He’s the guy who comes in the big games. He’s the guy who wins the big games. Playing alongside him I look forward to much more. The way he is calm under pressure and the way he played for SA and GT.
“I will probably play in the 6th or 7th position. The way I see it, I am ready for anything. I have batted at number 4 in tournaments in Chennai. The way Gujarat Titans have made their players feel comfortable, I am very happy to go there.”

Shahrukh Khan also expressed his interest in bowling in IPL 2024. He said that he wants to contribute with the ball if given the opportunity. He elaborated:
“We have 4 guys from Chennai and it is great to be part of that team because of the way they have played the last 2 years. 100% skittles tin. I started bowling in the TNPL and that helps me here. “I definitely want to contribute with the ball if I get the chance.”
Shahrukh Khan has played 33 matches in the IPL so far and has scored 426 runs at an average of 20.29 and a strike rate of 134.81. He is likely to play the role of finalist in the upcoming season for GT.
