Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has spoken about MS Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that the wicketkeeper-batsman will himself reveal his future, as the captain does not tell them what he will do.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni will take the field in IPL 2024. This could potentially be his last season in the league, considering his age and other factors as well. It was speculated that 2023 would be his last season but he confirmed that he will play next year.

MS Dhoni has been an incredible player and also the captain of the league. He has guided Chennai Super Kings to 5 league titles and is the most successful captain of the league along with Rohit Sharma who also won 5 titles.

MS Dhoni recently underwent knee surgery and is working hard to get fit for IPL 2024. It will probably be his last dance in the league, but considering his fitness, who knows if he could play a few more seasons.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said he has no idea when MS Dhoni will play in the league. He revealed that the batsman is getting tough yards and will return to the nets after 10 days. Speaking during an event, he explained (quoted by Indian Express):

“I don’t know that. Look, as far as the captain is concerned, he will answer you directly. He doesn’t tell us what he’s going to do. He is doing well now. He has begun his rehabilitation. He started working in the gym. And probably within 10 days he will also start working on the networks.”

Kasi Viswanathan further revealed that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are planning to have a camp in the first week of March. He added that they will organize a camp in Chennai. He explained:

“We are planning a camp somewhere for the first week of March. The IPL season is likely to begin on March 22. So, we will have our first camp in the first week in Chennai.”

IPL 2024: I’d say we pretty much got all our targets – Kasi Viswanathan in his auction

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) certainly had a great outing in the IPL 2024 auction. They also brought in the Kiwi duo of Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra along with Mustafizur Rahman. They quietly contributed to the event and fulfilled almost all the requirements.

Kasi Viswanathan said that they got all the players selected in the auction and revealed the thought process behind the selection of Daryl Mitchell and Mustafizur Rahman. He added:

“I would say that we practically met all of our objectives. We were planning for Daryl Mitchell. We thought Mustafizur Rahman would be a good bet on our Chepauk wicket, with the side boundary. These were our thoughts, but we weren’t sure we could get them. Luckily, this time it turned out to be a good auction for us.”

Apart from the foreign superstars, CSK also made a bid for Sameer Rizvi and bought him for a whopping Rs 8.4 crore. Talking about signing, Kasi Viswanathan said that they got the youngster as Ambati Rayudu’s replacement in the team. He elaborated:

“Sameer Rizvi was a target player for many of the franchises. We probably got a little lucky in getting Rizvi. Basically, if you look at it, we are trying to get a replacement for Ambati Rayudu. According to us, we didn’t have enough players with that kind of experience to bid for any of them. So, we thought it was better to bet on a promising young man. “I’m not saying this just because we chose him, but he will be the next best.”

Chennai Super Kings also brought in the likes of Shardul and Avanish Rao Aravelly apart from the names mentioned above. They would surely be a force to reckon with in the upcoming IPL.
