Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh took a hilarious dig at Australian pacer Mitchell Starc with a post on Instagram. He roasted the fast bowler for fetching INR 24.75 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction.
Mitchell Starc recently wrote history by becoming the highest-paid player in IPL history. The lanky fast bowler was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 24.75 crore and broke the record of Pat Cummins, who pocketed INR 20.5 crore in the same auction.
Mitchell Starc will be returning to the IPL after 9 long years as he last played in the league in 2015. He was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and played a great role in the team. The pacer opted to leave the league to be fit for the national team.
Mitchell Starc is undoubtedly one of the best pacers in world cricket. It was expected to fetch such a high price at auction due to the type of caliber it has. The fast bowler will add great value to the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the upcoming edition.
Since Mitchell Starc acquired a huge amount at auction, there has been a lot of talk about him. Recently, Harbhajan Singh hilariously mocked him. The former Indian spinner posted a video of the pacer in which he was speaking to broadcasters. However, in the clip, the pacemaker’s voice and what he was saying were changed.
Here is the video:
Mitchell Starc has played 27 matches in the IPL and has taken 34 wickets with an economy and average of 7.17 and 20.38. The pacer has the best 4/15 in the league and will be hoping to make a big impact this time.
Harbhajan Singh criticizes BCCI for not picking Cheteshwar Pujara for South Africa Test
Team India is currently facing South Africa in the two-match Test series. Rohit Sharma’s team looked clueless in the first game and suffered an innings and a 32-run drubbing in the first game. They seemed clueless with both bat and ball and didn’t look like they were there to fight.
Harbhajan Singh highlighted that India missed the services of Cheteshwar Pujara in the first match. He criticized the BCCI for not picking the veteran in the team and pointed out that the batsman had similar numbers to Virat Kohli. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:
“I didn’t select Ajinkya Rahane and left out Cheteshwar Pujara for no reason. These are the two players who have scored runs all over the place. If you look at the previous record, Pujara has the same contribution as Kohli.
“I don’t understand why Pujara has been left out, we still don’t have a better batsman than Puajra in Test cricket. He plays slow but saves you, thanks to him India won the tests in Australia and England.”
The second India vs South Africa Test will be played on January 3 in Cape Town. India would hope to come back and level the series.
