“I’ve never thought about it. I’m still playing cricket. IPL I am still playing. It will be very interesting to see what I end up doing after cricket. I am sure I want to spend a little more time in the army because in the last few years I have not been able to do that,” Dhoni said.

CSK tried Ravindra Jadeja as captain of CSK at the start of IL 2022. The move fell through as MS Dhoni was reappointed as captain of Chennai Super Kings for the second half of the season. CSK finished ninth in the table, followed by Mumbai Indians who finished tenth. Dhoni then returned as captain in 2023 and won his fifth IPL title with the franchise.

MS Dhoni is closing in on 5,000 runs for CSK. He has scored 4508 runs in 220 matches for CSK. He has a chance to surpass 5000 runs for the franchise if he makes the order. He batted at number seven and sometimes even at number 8 last season and made some crucial cameos.

Stephen Fleming and Kasi Viswanathan were asked about MS Dhoni’s future in the recently concluded IPL season. Fleming said the franchise has been searching for MS Dhoni’s successor since the last decade.

“We have had succession plans for MS for about 10 years. It’s going to be a talking point, but he’s as engaged and excited as I’ve seen him in a long time. As long as that passion is there for the team and the franchise, we will keep going.” Stephen Fleming said.

When asked about MS Dhoni’s future in IPL, the CSK CEO said that MSD is yet to talk to the franchise about it.

“Dhoni will take the decision himself. He hasn’t informed us yet and it’s up to him. So far he too has not given us any clue,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said on JioCinema.
