Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have had a horror run in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) so far. The three-time IPL finalists currently sit at the bottom of the points table with just one win in eight games.

They started their season with a loss against defending champions Chennai Super Kings before beating Punjab Kings to take off in IPL 2024. Since then, they have lost six games in a row. They are the only team in IPL 2024 that has not yet won more than one game.

The way things have gone so far, it looks like RCB could end another season without winning the IPL. They are one of the only three teams playing in the IPL since the first season but are yet to win the league. The Bengaluru-based team needs a notable turnaround in their fortunes to qualify for the playoffs first before they can dream of the trophy.

RCB Playoff Qualification Scenario:

With six losses in a row and seven defeats in eight matches, RCB’s chances of qualifying for the IPL playoffs are extremely low but not zero. The team led by Faf du Plessis can still reach the top four, although its destiny is no longer in its hands.

Although the chances of making it to the playoffs are very slim, RCB is still alive in the ongoing IPL 2024. For that, they first need to win the remaining six league games. It will help them finish the league stage with 14 points. At that point, if other results go well, RCB could make it to the top four without the Net Run-Rate coming into play.

For that to happen, the top two or three teams must win as many games as possible and leave the final playoff spot up for grabs. Usually, seven wins are enough to qualify for the playoffs and RCB could still do so if they manage to win the remaining six matches. RCB could make the playoffs even if they finish with 12 points. Also in that scenario they need a lot of results to continue on their path.
