Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on Friday (March 22), thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets in the first game of IPL 2024 to open your account on the IPL points table.
Chasing 174, the reigning champions crossed the finish line with eight balls remaining. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra He added 38 runs for the first wicket before the first departed for 15. Ravindra and Ajinkya Rahane then shared a 33-run stand for the second wicket. Karn Sharma broke the stand by dismissing Ravindra for 37.

In the next over, Deepak Chahar also joined the party by sending back Glenn Maxwell for a duck to leave RCB reeling at 42 for 3 for 41 without loss. It was followed by a 35-run stand between Virat Kohli and Cameron Green before Mustafizur struck twice in an over to send both batsmen back and reduce RCB to 78 for 5.
With RCB in deep trouble, Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik came to their aid. The duo shared a brilliant 96-run stand for the sixth wicket to propel their team to a competitive total. Rawat scored 48 off just 25 balls before running out off the last ball of the innings.
On the other hand, Karthik scored an unbeaten 38 off 26 balls. For CSK, debutant Mustafizur took 4 wickets for 29 runs.
