Dhruv Jurel said that during Rajasthan Royals’ first clash against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023, he went to MS Dhoni and asked about his strategy behind his constant batting show in the lower order.
MS Dhoni he led Chennai Super Kings to the title in IPL 2023. The wicketkeeper-batsman also put on a powerful batting show, hitting the ball over 170 in the lower order. He also hit as many as 10 sixes in death overs in 10 innings.

Dhruv Jurel reveals MS Dhoni’s strategy to hit in lower order
During an interview with Times Of India, Dhruv Jurel spoke about his first meeting with MS Dhoni. Jurel said that when he met MS Dhoni in LPI 2023asked him about the secret behind his consistent hitting in the lower order.

“When we were playing our first game against CSK this year, I went to MS Dhoni and asked him a question: ‘Sir, how come you hit 6 or 7 to bat and you are always very consistent?’
“Dhoni responded in the simplest way, saying: ‘if you hit 6 or 7, you have no idea how the pitch will behave, which pitcher will come to play, what rate he will pitch, what his variations will be, etc. You have to go out and start hitting the ball,” said Dhruv Jurel.
“It is a very thankless job. You need to be consistent. People know that there are a certain number of balls left and that you have to try to score big points on every shot. If you don’t, people will start criticizing you for not scoring runs. You have to turn off that noise,” Jurel also said.

Mackerel also said that MS Dhoni advised him to make a plan and try to execute it again and again.
“You have to practice like this. You know you have 2 overs or 3 overs in hand and sometimes only a few deliveries. You just have to go and hit each ball and score. You have to practice like this. He asked me to stick to my game plan and not doubt myself. He said: ‘make a plan and execute it. If you can’t run it, come back out with the same plan and try running it again,” he said.

Like MS Dhoni, Dhruv Jurel also batted in the lower order for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023. The right-handed batsman scored 152 runs in 11 innings with an excellent strike rate of 172+. His top score was 34 runs unbeaten in one match.
