In what has been a massive development, Kolkata Knight Riders are keen to retain 4 players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. As per RevSportz reports, it is learned that the IPL 2024 winners are unlikely to retain Andre Russell, and there is also no certainty about captain Shreyas Iyer.
Reports claimed that Kolkata Knight Riders will retain Sunil Narine as their first pick. Along with him, Indian National Cricket Team batsman Rinku Singh will be the second retention while spinner Varun Chakaravarthy will be the third player picked by the franchise ahead of the auction.
For the uncapped category, Kolkata Knight Riders will retain fast bowler Harshit Rana. The fast bowler was all set to make his India debut in the T20Is against Bangladesh, but before the final match, he faced a viral infection and was denied an India cap, which in itself was a joy for the winners of the IPL 2024.
Reports also indicate that Kolkata Knight Riders are not sure about retaining Shreyas Iyer. It is known that discussions between the two parties are still ongoing and the final decision related to the same will be made soon, allowing the franchise to have a clear plan for the future.
Also, in a shocking development, it has emerged that Kolkata Knight Riders are unlikely to retain Andre Russell. This is undoubtedly great news as the all-rounder has been the backbone of the team for the last decade and has been an integral part of the team.
