IPL 2025: MS Dhoni’s participation officially confirmed as list of CSK retained players leaked

In what will be a big boost for the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni is all set to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The wicketkeeper-batsman is learned to have confirmed his participation ahead of the mega auction.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan himself confirmed to Cricbuzz that MS Dhoni will play in IPL 2025. The top official of the five-time champions mentioned that they are extremely delighted with the development and do not need anything else.

Kasi Viswanathan said, “When it is ready, what more do we want? We are happy.”

MS Dhoni will be retained in the uncapped category by the Chennai Super Kings. Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja will reportedly be the franchise’s top retainer, followed by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Matheesha Pathirana as No. 2 and No. 3 retainers.

This comes after MS Dhoni himself confirmed his desire to play in the next edition. During an event, he mentioned that he wanted to enjoy the last few years of his cricket. He also said that although it won’t be easy to put emotions aside, he wants to enjoy the game.

Dhoni also mentioned that he will have to stay fit to play the IPL but more importantly than that, he wants to relax. As quoted by the Times of India, he had said:

“I just want to enjoy the last few years of cricket I can play. When you play cricket as a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it as a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy.”
