TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was a Western Derby in which Gujarat Titans (GT) hosted Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 30th match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The two teams come into this match with contrasting results in their last matches. Mumbai Indians beat GT by 99 runs. This is Mumbai Indians’ first win in Ahmedabad after losing six consecutive IPL matches here.

GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose the field first. They played against the same team since their last win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Mumbai were still without Rohit Sharma in this match as he is yet to recover from his hamstring injury; They made two changes, Denmark’s Malewar and Krish Bhagat made their debuts, with Ryan Rickelton out of the side.

Mumbai, after being put in to bat first, got off to a horrible start with the Danish debutant returning without creating any problems for the GT players. Later, de Kock followed up with Kagiso Rabada picking the two wickets in the powerplay. The five-time winners were on the defensive. Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir tried to form a partnership but Rabada got his third and SKY departed with another low score.

Naman and Tilak Varma then put together a 52-run partnership before Prasidh Krishna dismissed the former for a score of 45 runs, with MI reduced to 96/4. Tilak then took charge and scored runs quickly after being given some time. Tilak brought up his fifty in 33 balls.

He and captain Hardik Pandya put together an 81-run partnership. Tilak Varma finished with 101 runs as MI scored 96 runs in the last six overs and helped Mumbai post 199/5 in their 20 overs.

Going out to chase, GT lost Sai Sudharsan on the first ball of the over, with Jasprit Bumrah taking the wicket, he returned to form and picked a wicket after 5 matches. Then it was Jos Buttler who came back with a low score in the next over. Ashwani Kumar then dismissed Shubman Gill, who looked determined.

The Titans went off the rails in the run chase, losing three wickets in the powerplay and thereafter did not return in the match, losing wickets at regular intervals. Half the team was within 55 runs. Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan tried to form a partnership but the former came back for 8 runs. The Titans were bowled out for 100 runs.
