The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match number 41, was between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic Wakhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was another high scoring game at this venue as SRH beat MI by 6 wickets. When the match ended with another centurion ending up on the losing side.
Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first, and the five-time winners made four changes – Ryan Rickelton, Trent Boult, Robin Minz and Will Jacks – making way for Quinton de Kock, Mitchell Santner, Sherfane Rutherford and Krish Bhagat. After electing to bat first, the opening pair of Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks gave the five-time winners a flying start as the pair scored 78 runs in the powerplay and looked dangerous but Nitish Kumar Reddy gave the breakthrough as Jacks was back in the pavilion after scoring 46 off 22 balls. The hundred came up within 8 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for another low score; However, Rickelton, in his comeback game, went into absolute chaos as he scored his fifty in just 23 balls and continued his demolition against the SRH bowlers. 150 came up in 11 overs. Naman Dhir played more as an anchor, scoring 22 off 17 balls.
Ryan Rickelton scored a hundred in 44 balls and became the fastest batsman to score a hundred for Mumbai Indians, surpassing the records of Sanath Jayasuriya and Tilak Varma, who achieved it in 45 balls. Captain Pandya played a crucial role with 31 off 15 balls, and Rickelton were unbeaten with a score of 123 off 55 balls, helping MI score 243/5 in 20 overs.
Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma came out in chase and got off to a cheerful start as they scored fifty in three overs and batted brilliantly, scoring 92/0 in the powerplay. Head brought up his fifty in 20 balls and it was a massacre against the MI players, but the Mumbai players won the match, picking 3 wickets in a span of 10 runs.
Head was dismissed for 76 runs and Ishan Kishan failed to open his account. A flurry of wickets gave a sigh of relief to MI fans, but then Heinrich Klaasen brought up his fifty in 22 balls and took the game away from Mumbai Indians, possibly eliminating them from IPL 2026.
Klaasen was unbeaten with a score of 65, and Salil Arora played a superb knock of 30 off 10 balls, which made it five wins in a row for SRH, and was also the fourth-highest run chase in IPL history.
