The headquarters based in Ahmedabad Torrent Group will buy a 67% participation in the Premier League franchise of India (IPL) Gujarat Titans, according to a Espncricinfo report.

If the IPL Governing Council, Torrent Group is likely, could probably be part of the IPL 2025 as of March 21.

New property in Gujarat Titans?

Currently, the Gujarat Titans are owned by CVC Capital Partners (Irelia Company Pte Ltd) and had won the attempt to own the Ahmedabad franchise when the IPL decided to add two more teams to the competition of eight teams. CVC had paid 5,625 million rupees in 2021 to buy Gujarat’s Titans while they won the IPL 2022 in their debut season under the Captaincy of Baroda Allrounder Hardik Pandya.

They finished runner -up in IPL 2023, losing the final against Chennai Super Kings. But in the third season, the team saw Pandya returning to the Indians of Mumbai, where he was appointed captain. It contributed to Gujarat’s Titans lost their course in the League phase and ended eighth with five wins and seven losses of 14 games. Two games had no results.

According to the report, Torrent Sports Ventures Private Limited was among the bidders of the BCCI auction in 2021 for teams of six cities: Cutthack, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Indore, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Torrent had offered without success in three cities at that time. Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Lucknow won the offers for the WPL franchises.

According to its website, Torrent Group has an assessment of INR 41,000 million rupees and has Torrent Power and Torrent Pharma as its key subsidiaries.

Gujarat’s Titans are currently led by Shubman Gill and are trained by former Indian pacemakers Ashish Nehra. The team also presents international stars such as Mohammed Siraj, Rashid Khan and Jos Buttler.
