Maheesh Theekshana, Axar Patel and Yashasvi Jaiswal rise in ICC rankings after impressive performances

Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana has risen to eighth position in the latest ICC rankings for one-day international bowlers. Maheesh Theekshana rose in the rankings after impressive performances by him in the recent ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Wanindu Hasaranga returned against Zimbabwe after missing the 2023 ICC World Cup due to injury. Hasaranga had a remarkable performance of 7/19 in just 5.5 overs during the third ODI. He jumped 28 places to reach the top 40 among bowlers.

Wanindu Hasaranga showed notable progress in the ODI all-rounder rankings, moving up 15 positions to secure the 17th spot with a total of 187 points. The world-class player’s achievement establishes him as the highest-ranked Sri Lankan player on the list.

Kusal Mendis’ team achieved a 2-0 home victory in the three-match series against Zimbabwe. The Sri Lankan team defeated their opponents by just 96 runs in the third ODI match. The home team chased the target of 97 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Axar Patel reaches fifth position in ICC T20I bowler rankings

The teams are preparing for the 2024 T20 World Cup through several bilateral series. Indian all-rounder Axar Patel made a significant jump of 12 places, reaching fifth position (667). Axar Patel overtook Ravi Bishnoi (666) as the highest-ranked Indian bowler on the list.

Axar Patel impressed with his bowling in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Afghanistan at home. The left-arm spinner picked up four wickets in two matches at an economy rate of 5. Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi managed to secure two wickets at an average of 37.

Yashasvi Jaiswal enters top 10 in ICC batsman rankings in T20Is

Yashasvi Jaiswal has risen seven places to reach sixth position (739) in the latest ICC T20 batsman rankings. Among Indian players, Suryakumar Yadav (869) occupies the top spot in the list, with Ruturaj Gaikwad (661) also in the top ten, securing the ninth position.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad were ruled out of the series against Afghanistan due to their respective injuries. Suryakumar was last seen in action during the T20I series against South Africa. Ruturaj scored a century against Australia in the home T20I series.

Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube scored two consecutive half-centuries in the series. The left-handed batsman remained unbeaten in both outings, scoring 123 runs at an impressive strike rate of 170.83. Shivam Dube (472) moved to 58th place in the latest batsman rankings.

Finn Allen secures 11th spot in ICC batsman rankings in T20Is

Finn Allen’s impressive performances with knocks of 34 and 74 propelled him up 11 places to 16th position in the latest T20 batsmen rankings. Pakistani batsman Fakhar Zaman rose 14 places to 81st position after his performance against New Zealand.

New Zealand claimed victory in the five-match T20I series with two matches remaining. Finn Allen was named ‘Man of the Match’ for his 74-run knock in the second T20I. Fakhar Zaman scored 84 runs in three games at an impressive strike rate of 186.67.
