After the conclusion of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the focus has once again been on the T20Is with the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup 2024. Therefore, all the top teams are gearing up to form their teams for the event, which will take place in the West. India and the United States in June next year.

Due to the World Cup, there was less T20I action in 2023. However, there were some exciting games that captivated cricket fans around the world. In particular, many small countries witnessed many T20I actions. While some players managed to impress with their performances, there were others who put up failed shows. Ibrahim Zadran was one of the openers who failed in T20Is in 2023. The right-handed batsman scored 149 runs in 8 games this year at an average of 21.28. He scored only 1 fifty in 8 matches. He also had a poor strike rate of 96.12 while batting.

David Malan

Dawid Malan was once a dangerous batsman in the shortest format. However, the England batsman struggled in 2023. In 7 matches, the left-handed batsman amassed 144 runs at an average of 20.57. He hit 2 fifties and maintained a strike rate of just 102+.

Will Young is a top-order batsman from New Zealand. He played 6 matches in 2023 and could only score 94 runs in total. His strike rate was 102.17. He scored fifty in one match but came out cheap in the other five matches. He is another player in the 2023 T20I flop XI list.

Rahul Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi made his international debut this year and played 5 matches for India. He scored 44 runs in one game but failed in others. In 5 matches, he scored 97 runs in total at an average of 19.40. Due to his poor performance after his debut, he did not participate with the national team in the previous series against South Africa and Australia.

Rilee Rossouw

2023 was not a good year for Rilee Rossouw. The South Africa veteran played 3 T20I matches this year. However, he could only score 68 runs in total at an average of 22.66. Due to his poor performance in the middle order, South Africa replaced him with other batsmen. Rossouw was also absent from the team in the recent series against India.

Ishan Kishan played many matches for team India this year. However, in the shortest format, the left-handed batsman put up a spectacle of failure. Since the beginning of 2023, Kishan has played 11 T20I matches for India. He scored only 207 runs at an average of 18.81. Kishan scored a fifty in two matches but failed to take decent knocks in other matches.

Shadab Khan

Shadab Khan also struggled in the shorter format this year. The Pakistan all-rounder played 8 T20I matches in 2023. He scored 93 runs in 5 matches at an average of 18.60 and a strike rate of 113+. The right-arm spinner picked up 6 wickets in 8 games at an average of 32.66.

Tabraiz Shamsi

Tabraiz Shamsi was a brilliant spinner for South Africa in the ODI World Cup 2023. However, the left-arm spinner struggled in the shortest format in 2023. He played 6 matches and picked 5 wickets with a high economy of 9.75. He could not pick more than 1 wicket in any match.

England pacer Mark Wood played only 1 T20I match in 2023. However, he was too expensive in that game. The right-arm pacer conceded 24 runs in the only over he bowled in that match, registering an economy of 12.0. As a result, England did not include him in any T20I games this year.

Lockie Ferguson played 5 T20I matches this year. However, the New Zealand pacer could only get 3 wickets. He also came out too expensive with his economy of 10.68. Blackcaps kept him away from the action in the shortest format this year.
