Jacob Bethell smashes a 104-metre six off Kyle Jamieson in DC-RCB clash

Delhi Capitals needed to start well with the ball; rather, they needed to replicate something that Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood did for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, with none of the top pacers playing, they looked like minnows to the RCB batsmen.

RCB opener Jacob Bethell gave the needed boost to RCB’s innings after a terrifying first innings display by Delhi Capitals in the IPL clash between RCB and DC. He hit a huge blow, which went out of the park.

When RCB needed just 76 runs to win their 12 points for the season and extend their lead over Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals considerably, young opener Bethell, who replaced Phil Salt at the top of the order, gave them a stellar start.

Although he did not add many runs, he gave confidence to the RCB batsmen with two mammoth hits, which were much needed after a dismal outing for the DC batsmen. He got the second six from Kyle Jamieson in the third over, which hit it out of the park.

The impact was a colossal six, which traveled 104 m and was deposited on the roof of the stadium. This was what set the tone for a comfortable victory for the Royal Challengers.

Virat Kohli finishes in style for Royal Challengers Bengaluru

After Jacob Bethell was dismissed off Kyle Jamieson’s next ball after the huge six off the Kiwi pacer, Devdutt Padikkal continued the momentum for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Padikkal scored 34 runs off the next 13 balls in his innings alongside Virat Kohli, the legendary Indian cricketer who achieved a new feat in the history of the IPL. Padikkal seemed to be batting on a completely different track from the DC batsmen in the first innings.

Kohli, however, finished the game with two huge sixes off T Natarajan and ended one of the smallest chases in IPL history.

Before going for those two big sixes, Virat Kohli took a single off the bowling of Axar Patel and with that he reached the milestone of 9000 runs in the history of the IPL. He became the first batsman to cross the 9000 run mark, with Rohit Sharma being the second highest run-getter behind him with over 7000 runs.

Having played 275 matches in his career, he has amassed 9012 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the 19-year history of the IPL. He has 66 half-centuries and 8 centuries to his name in the IPL.

RCB’s batsmen seemed to be in a hurry as they chased down one of the most insignificant targets in IPL history. After MI, they are now the team that finished as the team with the second-fastest chase in IPL history, in just 6.3 overs.
