The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has officially confirmed that Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian national cricket team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and Rahul Dravid will be the head coach of the team.

“In the 2023 (final) in Ahmedabad, although we did not win the World Cup after 10 consecutive victories, we won hearts. I want to promise you that in 2024 (T20 World Cup) in Barbados (final venue), under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, ham Bharat ka jhanda gaadenge (we will hoist the Indian flag),” Shah said during his speech while changing the name of the SCA Stadium as Niranjan Shah Stadium on Wednesday.

Shah further said that Rahul Dravid, who got the extension after the 2023 World Cup, will continue to be the team’s head coach while star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will act as Rohit’s deputy in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

“Rahul Dravid will be India’s coach during the T20 World Cup, Hardik Pandya will be Rohit Sharma’s deputy,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah was quoted as saying by News18.
