Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat achieved a unique record in the Indian Premier League after featuring in the SRH vs MI match on Wednesday, March 27. The left-arm seamer became the first Indian player to play for 8 teams in IPL history. Jaydev Unadkat is a member of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2024.

The franchise chose Unadkat during IPL 2024 auction at its base price of Rs. 2 crores. In the previous season, the 34-year-old seamer was part of Lucknow Super Giants. However, the franchise released him from the team ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.

Jaydev Unadkat made his IPL debut with KKR in the 2010 season

After joining Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, Jaydev Unadkat has played for 8 franchises in IPL, the most for any Indian player. He made his debut in the Indian Premier League in the 2010 season, when he was picked by Riders of the Knights of Calcutta (KKR) in the auction.

He was a part of the franchise for three seasons and also won the trophy in IPL 2012. Later, in IPL 2013, Royal Challengers Bangalore brought him into their team. In the 2014 and 2015 IPL seasons, the senior Indian pacer was a part of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).

He returned to KKR in 2016 for a single edition. He was a member of Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL 2017. From the 2018 to 2021 seasons, Unadkat spent four years with the Rajasthan Royals team. Mumbai Indians picked him in IPL 2022 but released him later.

Lucknow Super Giants picked him last season but dropped him after the season. He is now a part of SRH in IPL 2024. Therefore, since his debut in IPL 2010, Unadkat has played for more than 8 teams in the Indian Premier League. He has played at least one game for all of these teams.

In particular, the former Australian player Aaron Finch He holds the record of playing for the most franchises in IPL. Finch played for 9 IPL teams from IPL 2009 to 2022. Unadkat is now ranked second in the overall list.

Unadkat picked 2 wickets in the clash between SRH and MI

In his first match for SRH against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, Jaydev Unadkat put up a decent show. The Saurashtra pacer picked 2 wickets for 47 runs in the match. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Mumbai Indians by 31 runs in the eighth match of IPL 2024.

SRH posted the team’s highest total of 277-3 in the match batting first. Travis Head (62), Abhishek Sharma (63) and Heinrich Klaasen (80) smashed scorching fifties to take the score to a mammoth total. They later restricted MI to 246-5 in the second innings to clinch a win. The highest scoring match broke numerous records in the IPL.
