Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag once again won the toss and pushed a batting-friendly team of Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first. Jofra Archer dismissed Abhishek Sharma on the first ball of the spell and gave the Royals another solid start with the ball.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will host another team at their home venue, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The Sunrisers have not had the best home records this season, having only won a single match in the season, and that too at Eden Gardens.
Rajasthan Royals are one of the two unbeaten teams in this edition of the IPL as they are currently on top of the points table with 8 points from 4 matches, one more than Punjab Kings who are also unbeaten in the season.
Jofra Archer dismissed Abhishek Sharma for a golden duck
Sunrisers’ dynamic opener Abhishek Sharma has struggled for consistency this season. The opener boasts an impressive record in the powerplay and forms one of the most destructive batting pairs alongside Travis Head.

However, Archer bowled a fast delivery that outpaced him, and the left-handed batsman, who has the ability to hit balls for sixes on the off side, ducked the ball towards the fielder at deep backward point.
The batsman, after a promising performance in the last game against the Punjab Kings, was dismissed for ducking when he stepped into the trap set by the Royals pacer and captain.
Abhishek Sharma scored an 18-ball half-century in the last match
Before coming into this game, Abhishek played a big knock in his last game at his original home ground at the PCA New Stadium in New Chandigarh. During that match, it seemed like the player had regained his 2025 form, which he had lost since the start of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Abhishek Sharma hit the ball very hard as he destroyed the Punjab Kings’ bowling lineup, racking up the highest powerplay score of IPL 2026. He scored an 18-ball half-century by hitting five fours and four sixes in his fifties, and took his team to 105 runs in the powerplay.
Jofra Archer’s First Ball Wicket
Jofra Archer, the English pacer, has been one of RR’s most valuable assets in the IPL. He started well this season as he was often found between the wickets. He has now acquired a knack for picking wickets in the first overhaul of his spell.
Archer had dismissed Phil Salt with a knock in the last game at Gawahati, and now he has done the trick once again on Riyan Parag, by dismissing Abhishek Sharma, making him walk into a prepared trap. Archer is the most valuable asset for the Royals, especially with the new ball.
