Josh Hazlewood provides official information on Virat Kohli’s injury: ‘Not great…’

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) superstar pacer Josh Hazlewood has given an official update on batting great Virat Kohli’s injury ahead of the team’s upcoming match against the Delhi Capitals.

Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will host Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Will definitely play – Josh Hazlewood on Virat Kohli

Kohli is considered THE FITNESS CRICKE PLAYER IN THE WORLD, but a sportsman cannot always stay fit and with age, injuries tend to appear. At 37, Kohli is still in the best shape of his life but faced some fitness issues during the match against Mumbai Indians (MI).

Kohli suffered an ankle injury during the match and was also feeling a bit unwell. However, he did not miss the next match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and played as an Impact Player.

Notably, Kohli had earlier said that he would never play as an Impact Player and would prefer to quit cricket if he could not play, but a sudden injury forced him to take up the role in RCB’s previous game.

Kohli has been working hard in the nets for the upcoming game and Josh Hazlewood confirmed that the batsman will play it. However, Josh Hazlewood did not confirm whether Kohli will play as an Impact Player.

“He will definitely play. It’s probably a matter of whether Kohli will come out on the field. He can make that impact for as long as possible. But he is not a great observer, he likes to play,” Hazlewood said, as quoted by RevSportz.

He has continued to improve – Josh Hazlewood

During the same media interaction, Hazlewood praised Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar, who has been in impressive form in IPL 2026.

Josh Hazlewood said Patidar continues to improve and is a calm presence in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru dressing room.

“He has continued to improve. This year he has improved from there. He is a calm character. His batting has been incredible,” Hazlewood on Patidar.

First hamstring, then hamstring, then calf strain – Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood has missed a lot of cricket action due to his injuries and speaking about them, he said that the rehabilitation process becomes terribly difficult when one suffers back-to-back injuries.

“First the hamstring, then the tendon, the calf strain. You learn when you get injured. It’s difficult to do rehabilitation, then cricket happens,” said the Australian pacer.

The 35-year-old further spoke about batsmen dominating the game in 20-over cricket and said the crowd enjoys big hits.

“It’s a bit of a cat-and-mouse game. Some hitters might see it better, trying to anticipate.

“It’s nice for the crowd to see fours and sixes (smiling). The pressure the batsmen are under is huge, they are expected to hit fours and sixes. The game is always changing, it’s a nice challenge,” the pacer added.
