Key fixtures, fixtures and venues of CPL 2026 schedule announced; Jamaica Kingsmen to debut

The T20 cricket franchise has grown in recent times across the world and has taken over the anticipation of international cricket. It includes matches with privately owned franchise teams, offering players a global platform to showcase their talent.

The IPL has been one of the most reputed leagues in the world and includes several team owners who have also considered investing a lot of money in other global leagues. Similarly, the CPL (the Caribbean Premier League) also includes many of these teams that have been bought by Indian investors.

Following the inclusion of new team, Jamaica Kingsmen, in the CPL, the tournament has announced the schedule for its upcoming 15th edition of the competition. Here is the detailed information about the upcoming season’s schedule.

CPL 2026 schedule announced after seventh team joins competition

The Caribbean Premier League, which is a franchise tournament held in the West Indies, will have several new additions to the 15th edition of the competition and has already announced a new franchise with the introduction of a Jamaica-based franchise.

The CPL returns to Jamaica after a long gap of 6 years and would include the new team, Jamaica Kingsmen, who would be debuting in this edition of the competition. Notably, this franchise was previously called the Jamaica Tallawahs, but that team ceased to exist after the 2023 season.

The CPL would once again include this new team alongside the many teams that have been part of the tournament in the last edition, where Trinbago Knight Riders finished as the defending champions of the competition. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St. Lucia Kings are the other teams.

Will Indian owned CPL franchises play against a Pakistani owned franchise?

The Jamaica Kingsmen will be a new franchise in the CPL that has been bought by Canada-based Pakistani businessman Fawad Sarwar, who also owns the Hyderabad Kingsmen in the Pakistan Super League and the Chicago Kingsmen in the Minor Cricket League.

Now he, being a Pakistani owner, would have to let his team play in a tournament that includes so many teams owned by Indian owners. CPL teams like Barbados Royals, St. Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders are owned by IPL owners.

The team will use Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, as its stadium and will also have games scheduled there. Hopefully, tensions between India and Pakistan will not be a concern in CPL 2026.
