KKR vs DC: Watch – Axar Patel castles Phil Salt with a peach in Kolkata

Axar Patel and Phil Salt

Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel keeps his team in the game with the ball in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The 47th match of the tournament between both teams will be held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

After a poor performance with the bat, the Delhi Capitals are giving everything with the ball. Initially, they came under pressure as Sunil Narine and Phil Salt took the players to the cleaners, but it was Axar Patel, who brought Delhi Capitals back to the game at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Axar Patel first eliminated Sunil Narine and if this was not enough, he then eliminated Phil Salt. The all-rounder produced a magnificent delivery to eliminate the dangerous English batsman, who was looking to hit every ball out of the park at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Axar Patel bowled a flat arm ball that curved back from length. Phil Salt was beaten for pace as he attempted to cut the ball. The ball hit the stump in an instant as the batsman had to take a long walk back to the pavilion.

Phil Salt played a vital role for his team in the chase. He set the tone for his team and made sure they got off to a pretty good start. The wicketkeeper-batsman finished with 68 innings off 33 balls. He had a strike rate of over 206 and also scored 7 fours and 5 sixes in his innings.

Axar Patel’s effort went in vain as Delhi Capitals failed to build on the subsequent momentum. Kolkata Knight Riders took the game away from the opposition even though they lost Rinku Singh early to young pacer Lizaad Williams at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Shreyas Iyer (33*) and Venkatesh Iyer (26*) played decent hands with the bag at the end. The duo added 57 runs together as Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target with 7 wickets in hand and claimed their 6th win of IPL 2024.

It’s good to contribute: Phil Salt after his heroics

Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Phil Salt spoke about his innings with the bat against Delhi Capitals. He praised the team for coming back after facing a disappointing loss. He also spoke about his initial associations with Sunil Narine. He stated:

“It’s good to contribute. We’ve had a good run in the home games. It’s good that we’ve had continuity in the conditions. Coming from the last game, to do a performance like that by the pitchers, it’s really satisfying for them. It’s Sometimes there is a high risk, but it is about putting the odds in your favor.

“You have to keep backing yourself and make the right choices. It does (does a good performance help you have confidence?). It is very helpful to stay first and see what you are doing. It gives you an advantage by assessing the conditions first. Sunil keeps things simple but he is a deep thinker. “We have adapted very well in this competition. “If one of us gets going, we hit him.” He concluded.
