Well, the umpires fell victim to Kohli and Gambhir’s wrath during the KKR-RCB clash at Eden Gardens. During RCB’s chase, Virat lost his cool and had a heated conversation with the umpires on the field.

The RCB batsman was also seen expressing his frustration with his bat and the dustbin in the dugout after he was dismissed on a seemingly wide delivery from Harshit Rana on Sunday, April 21.

After this drama, another heated moment caught the attention of the crowd, when KKR mentor Gambhir was seen having a furious argument with the fourth official near the dugout towards the end of the match. RCBThe chase, with head coach Chandrakant Pandit also there.

The incident unfolded during the 18th over of RCB’s chase when the Bengaluru team needed 31 runs in the last two overs with Dinesh Karthik at the crease. KKR captain Shreyas Iyer was seen chatting with the referee on the field before pointing towards the KKR dugout.

Iyer was signaling to the KKR dugout that the umpire was not allowed to have a new fielder in the game as the match was about to end. A visibly angry Gambhir then attacked the fourth umpire over the boundary rope, engaging in a heated exchange with him, which Pandit later joined.

Initially, commentators were confused about what was happening but then the mystery unfolded as KKR looked to replace Sunil Narine with Rahmanullah Gurbaz as substitute fielder for the last two overs during RCB’s chase at Eden Gardens.

As Narine completed his allotted four overs, KKR wanted to bolster their fielding efforts with a new substitute, wary of RCB’s threat of chasing the formidable target in Kolkata.

However, the umpire categorically dismissed KKR’s demand and Narine had to return to the field, while Gurbaz was sent back to the dugout, leaving Gambhir angry over the decision.

Well, RCB looked to be in a strong position to chase the remaining 31 runs in the last two overs against KKR, especially with Dinesh Karthik’s aggressive batting display, including three boundaries and a six in his spirited 18-ball 25 knock.

However, even after Karthik’s dismissal just before the end, Karn Sharma and Mohammed Siraj seemed to seal the deal for RCB, with 21 runs needed in the final over to win the IPL 2024 clash against KKR.

However, Karn, who is not known for his batting prowess, surprised everyone by smashing three consecutive sixes off Mitchell Starc, reducing the required margin to just 3 runs off 2 balls. However, Starc redeemed himself by taking a return catch to dismiss Karn, who scored 20 off just seven balls with three sixes, to end RCB’s hopes.

In a dramatic finish, Lockie Ferguson was dismissed off the last ball by Ramandeep Singh, as RCB fell just one run short of the target against KKR at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
