Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli was seen having a healthy conversation with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir before the game between the two teams. The match will be played at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on Sunday (April 21).
Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir have had their moments in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. During Round 1 of the match between the teams, the two greats of Indian cricket were seen hugging at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium when the batsman was batting in the middle.
The rivalry between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders is mainly due to Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. Over the years, the duo has engaged in fierce battles and many times things have become serious between them as well.
During IPL 2023, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had a verbal dispute. It happened during the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants, of whom Gambhir mentored last year in the league before joining KKR this season.
Virat Kohli fought with pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and then Gautam Gambhir also joined. With them fighting last year, it was expected that they would have something similar this time. However, that was not the case as the duo greeted each other quite well.
In the second leg match of Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders, just a day before, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were seen having an intense conversation with each other. The duo engaged in a healthy chat and the video went viral on the Internet.

Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious in the first round of battle between the teams. The Shreyas Iyer-led team produced a dominant effort with the bat and chased down the big target easily. They would also be eager to win the second leg and make a strong case for the playoffs.

Gautam Gambhir recently opened up about his mindset and said that results matter a lot to him. He admitted that the right process is imperative, but he needs results in his favor because fans come to see KKR win. Speaking on the podcast, he stated:
“I say very openly that results do matter to me. I don’t believe in this word called ‘Process’ and ‘Do the process well, the results will take care of themselves’. For me, results matter, because people come to see KKR win.” .
KKR is currently in second place in the points table. They suffered a disappointing 2-wicket defeat against RR in a thrilling thriller in their last game and would be eager to win. If they can win here, they will almost certainly be in the playoffs. On the other hand, RCB is last in the table with just one win.
