Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a night to forget with the bat in the ongoing final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They achieved the lowest total in IPL finals history after their poor batting performance.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad is underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The first innings of the game saw complete dominance by the Shreyas Iyer-led team, who was asked to bowl first.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, despite batting first, struggled to get going as they looked torrid with the bat. Mitchell Starc started the proceedings with the ball as he removed Abhishek Sharma with the peach in the first over of the match.

Abhishek Sharma’s wicket opened the floodgates for Sunrisers Hyderabad after they lost wickets in quick succession and looked clueless with the bat. Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowlers were all over the batsmen as they made it difficult for them to score runs.

Aiden Markram (20) in the middle tried to keep things positive but nothing worked on the way as Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowlers landed timely blows. They lost 8 wickets in just 90 runs. It looked like they were going to give it their all under 100 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

However, Captain Pat Cummins made a fighting effort. The pacer played 24 innings off 19 balls and ensured that his team surpassed 100 runs. Based on their effort with the bat in the order, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a total of 113 runs on the board.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, Andre Russell was the pick of the players with his figures of 3/19. Apart from him, Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana contributed two wickets each. Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarty and Sunil Narine claimed one wicket each.

When Sunrisers Hyderabad were bowled out for 113 runs, they recorded the lowest total in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final. They surpassed Chennai Super King’s score of 125/9 against Mumbai Indians in the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL).
