Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer has given a positive update on fast bowler Mayank Yadav. The fast bowler is currently out of action due to injury.

After failing to find a place in the team for LSG’s first match of the tournament against Rajasthan Royals, Mayank Yadav got the chance to make his IPL debut in the second game against Punjab Kings and announced his arrival in style. He consistently touched the 150 km/h mark and picked up three wickets to help his team win the game and get off the mark in IPL 2024.

In the third game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he bowled another match-winning spell while picking up three more wickets. In the next game against the Gujarat Titans, he left the field after bowling just one over. He barely touched the 140 kmph mark in the over before deciding to leave the field.

“He felt a little tightness in the top of his hip before the last game, but it was a one-in-ten pain, and we thought there were clinical signs. All through the doctors and physiotherapists. He seemed perfectly fine. He threw it first . [against Titans] and he started feeling something in his hip,” Langer said after the game against Gujarat Titans.

While LSG won the game against Gujarat Titans, they ended up on the losing side in the next two games against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in the absence of Mayank Yadav. The right-arm pacer will also not be part of the match against Chennai Super Kings on Friday (April 19).

Justin Langer on Mayank Yadav:

It looks like Mayank Yadav will be back in action soon as Justin Langer has revealed that the pacer has started bowling in the nets. Speaking ahead of the match against Chennai Super Kings, the former Australia batsman stated that the fast bowler has been working very hard and also seemed to have good pace.

“He’s working very hard. He played very well this morning. Fingers crossed, I think he’ll be back in the next game,” Langer said.

Meanwhile, LSG have won three of their first six games in IPL 2024 and will be looking for a fourth win against CSK.
