Bengal Veteran Manoj Tiwary, on Saturday (February 16), announced his retirement from cricket. The right-handed batsman is currently busy playing for Bengal in their Ranji Trophy clash against Bihar at the iconic Eden Gardens.

In his post, the Bengal star did not make it clear whether he is simply retiring from first-class cricket or all forms of the game. Announcing the decision, Manoj Tiwary also urged fans to come and support him and Bengal in the ongoing game as he wrote:

“Hello everyone, So… It’s time for one last dance! Possibly one last time for a long walk to my beloved 22 meters. I’ll miss it all! Thank you for encouraging and loving me all these years. I would love for everyone to come to my favorite #EdenGardens today and tomorrow to cheer on Bengal.”

“It is about to come full circle at the iconic Eden Gardens. I was lucky enough to make my first class debut at Eden Gardens. I’m about to play the last one in the same place where it all started. “I am playing the last first-class match of my career.” —Tiwary added.

Manoj Tiwary had announced his retirement from the game last year before making a U-turn to help Bengal win the Ranji Trophy. However, Bengal did not perform well this season and is on the verge of falling in the league stage.

Manoj Tiwary’s Career So Far:

Manoj Tiwary made his first-class debut for Bengal in 2004. Till now, he has played 147 first-class matches and has scored 10165 runs with the help of 30 centuries and 45 half-centuries. He also played 169 List A games and 183 T20 games, scoring over 9000 runs.

The 38-year-old played for the team India also. He represented India in 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is, scoring 302 runs with the help of 1 century and 1 fifty.
