Veteran Indian wicketkeeper and former captain MS Dhoni’s lawyer, while speaking before the Delhi High Court in a defamation case filed against him by former business partners, declared that it was not maintainable, according to PTI.

The Delhi High Court refused to pass an order in the matter against Dhoni and also restrained various media organizations and social media platforms from publishing false or defamatory content against the plaintiffs in the case. The step has been taken so that his reputation and dignity are not damaged.

Mihir Diwakar and his wife Soumya Das have filed a defamation case against MS Dhoni alleging that the former cricketer has made false and defamatory posts and statements about the duo earning INR 15 crore from MSD. They have also filed a case against Meta, Google, X, 30 news organizations and several news portals.

Dhoni’s legal counsel further added that they have filed a case against the duo for criminal offense under Section 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.

Lawyers who appeared on behalf of the plaintiffs stated that he only wanted fair reporting from the media, since the messages and statements made against him were already considered bullies and thieves. Advocate Sidhant Kumar, who came to represent the media, argued that the application in the case cannot be maintained and also cited the earlier order which mentioned that until specific allegations are not proven against both the accused, no case can be filed. case from this.

During the hearing, the issue of the court’s lack of jurisdiction also came to light when the plaintiff’s lawyer was asked to prove his allegations at the next hearing which will take place on April 3.

Earlier, in a press conference held by Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das, they gave their inputs against the case filed by MS Dhoni. According to the lawyer, MS Dhoni filed a criminal case against the duo in which they allegedly cheated MSD of around INR 16 crore and also failed to fulfill the contract that was signed to establish cricket academies.

Apart from the legal field, MS Dhoni will return to the cricket field during the Indian Premier League 2024. MSD will once again be seen leading the Chennai Super Kings and will want to win the franchise’s fourth title.
