Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf engaged in a heated exchange during RP vs IU PSL 2026 clash

A heated moment between Islamabad United batsman Faheem Ashraf and Rawalpindiz pacer Mohammad Amir during their PSL 2026 encounter at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The exchange of tensions began as soon as Mohammad Amir dismissed Islamabad United batsman Faheem Ashraf. On the third ball of the 17th over of the first innings of the match, Amir dismissed the left-handed batsman.

The seamer hit the cover hard for a slower bounce, which went into the batsman. The batsman went on his back foot to guide the ball over the keeper’s head, but it only produced a lead. Mohammad Rizwan took an easy catch behind the stumps.

Amir is mostly known for his calm demeanor even after taking wickets. But something was definitely wrong between him and Ashraf. During the celebration after taking the wicket, the experienced pacer aggressively asked the batsman to return to the dugout. The batsman also lost his cool and pointed his bat at the pitcher.

As the players were in aggressive mode, the other players on the field had to intervene to calm the situation. Two Rawalpindiz fielders went straight to the batsman to pin him down.

Amir bowled brilliantly for Rawalpindi

Batting first, Islamabad United scored 137 runs for 10 wickets. Devon Conway, with 40 runs, was the team’s leading scorer. Ashraf, who came out at number 7, managed to score only 11 runs.

Mohammad Amir was impressive on the ball. He took a double in his 4 over spell at an economy rate of 5.20. He was the most effective bowler in the Rawalpindi team.

“I am very happy, as a bowler, when you do well for the team, and as a team we needed it. I think we bowled the best team in the tournament. Islamabad is a good team. But I am happy to do it. To be honest, it is a big relief because we were struggling,” Mohammad Amir said after the match.

“We had some close games that we lost, but today in the meeting we talked about how we had to finish on a high note, and I think in the first half we did well,” he added.

Naseem Shah’s absence was considered a big loss for the team. Due to injury, the pacer has been ruled out for the 2026 PSL season.

“Honestly, as a player, I feel sorry for him. It’s always difficult to get back into the team when your team needs you as a senior player, but I think you can say it’s bad luck. He’s a good shooter and he started well, but you can say it’s bad luck,” Amir said about the injured player.

Amir hopes to win the match in Karachi

The pitch may not be ideal for batsmen. But since the goal is not too big, Mohammad Amir is confident of getting a crucial victory against Islamabad United.

“The wicket is a bit complicated and we have to bat well and we need two good partnerships and, hopefully, we will pursue this goal,” he concluded.
