Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir praised Indian batsman Rinku Singh for his stupendous knock in the third T20I against Afghanistan. He believes the batsman can be the next Yuvraj Singh for the Indian cricket team.
Rinku Singh has not failed since making his debut for India in the T20Is. In such a short time, he has claimed his place in the team and, with the kind of performances he has put in, it is fair to say that he will undoubtedly be the first name in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. 2024.
Rinku Singh’s best came during the third T20I against Afghanistan in Bengaluru. Until now, many touted him as a finisher. However, something different was at play in the dead match in Bengaluru, where two super overs were played.
India were reeling at 22/4 when Rinku Singh came out to bat. The batsman absorbed all the pressure and built the innings with captain Rohit Sharma. He played a perfect second fiddle to captain Sharma, who hit his fifth ton in the format.

Reminds me of myself – Yuvraj Singh on Rinku Singh
Recently, World Cup 2011 Player of the Tournament Yuvraj Singh praised Rinku Singh for his heroics for the Indian team. He said that the hitter reminds him of himself because he knows when to attack. The former all-rounder added that the KKR batsman has the skills to do what he used to do. Speaking to the Telegraph, he said:
“He is probably the best left-hander in the Indian team at the moment. He reminds me of myself: he knows when to attack, when to rotate the attack and he is incredibly intelligent under pressure.
“He can win games for us. I don’t want to put pressure on him, but I really think he has the ability to do what I used to be the finisher that fills in at the 5 or 6 spot.”
Rinku Singh has played 15 T20Is for India so far and has amassed 356 runs at an average of 89. The left-hander also has a staggering strike rate of over 176 to go with two half-centuries to his name with the best of an unbeaten team. 69.
