Pakistan national cricket team batsman Mohammad Rizwan has made a spectacular breakthrough in the ICC Test rankings. This came after his sensational performance with the bat in the recently concluded Test match against the Bangladesh national cricket team, which was played in Rawalpindi.

Mohammad Rizwan hit a magnificent ton and finished the innings with an unbeaten 171 runs. It was one of the main reasons why the Pakistan National Cricket Team posted a huge total in the first innings, having lost the first wickets in the game in the form of big names.

After his brave knock in the first Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, Mohammad Rizwan achieved his career-best rating in the longest format of the game.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has moved up seven places to 10th in the International Cricket Council rankings.

While Mohammad Rizwan made a big gain, it was not great news for his teammate Babar Azam. The top-order batsman, after failing in both innings against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, dropped six places and went from third to ninth in the ICC Test batsmen rankings.

Babar Azam is now just six rating points ahead of Mohammad Rizwan in the updated Test batsmen rankings.

On the other hand, Saud Shakeel was also rewarded for his performance against Bangladesh as he moved up to 13th place in the overall rankings thanks to his 141-run knock in Rawalpindi.

Another centurion from the Pakistan-Bangladesh Test match, Mushfiqur Rahim, who played an innings of 191 runs off 341 balls, also made substantial strides. He achieved a career-high rating by moving up seven places to 17th in the ICC Test rankings.

Apart from Mohammad Rizwan, Harry Brook moves up the ICC Test rankings

The players who took part in the first Test match between England and Sri Lanka were also rewarded for their performances. The main winner was English batsman Harry Brook, who scored a vital half-century and recorded scores of 56 and 32 during that match at Old Trafford.

Harry Brook moved up three places to fourth in the overall rankings. He overtook Pakistan’s Babar Azam, Australia’s Steve Smith and India’s Rohit Sharma.

Apart from him, Sri Lankan players Dinesh Chandimal (up four places to 23rd) and Kamindu Mendis (up eight places to 36th) and England’s Jamie Smith (up 22 places to 42nd) also made progress.

In terms of the ICC Test bowling rankings, Chris Woakes, following his impressive performance, has moved up four places to 16th. While Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando has moved up ten places to 17th. Naseem Shah has moved up to 33rd, while England’s Gus Atkinson has moved up four places to 42nd.

The ICC T20I rankings also saw significant changes following the conclusion of the West Indies vs South Africa series. Nicholas Pooran moved up three places to ninth, and Shai Hope moved up 32 places to equal 40th in the T20I rankings for batsmen. South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks moved up four places to take 13th place.

In terms of bowling, Akeal Hosein improved four places while Gudakesh Motie gained 10 places as the duo secured second and third spots respectively in the T20I bowling list.
