Pakistan national cricket team batsman Mohammad Rizwan showed his class with the bat in the ongoing match against Bangladesh national cricket team. The first match of the series between the teams is being held at the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Rizwan put in a superlative effort with the bat in the Test match against the Bangladesh national cricket team. He bailed his team out of trouble when they lost wickets early on and came under huge pressure in the first game of the series.
Rizwan, along with Saud Shakeel, got the Pakistan national cricket team back into the game and made sure to silence all the critics. Before the match, there was a lot of discussion about his place in the team, especially since Sarfaraz Ahmed was also in the squad.
However, Rizwan silenced all the critics and made sure he bowled a spectacular innings. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored a glorious century and put his team on top. He, along with Shakeel (141), added 240 runs for the fifth wicket and helped the team post a huge total on the board.
Mohammad Rizwan, even after scoring a bunch of points, looked focused and even scored double points. But his dreams were shattered by captain Shan Masood. The Pakistan national cricket team captain declared the start of the innings with an hour of play left and tried to unleash his pace attack at the end of the day.
Rizwan finished with an unbeaten innings of 171 runs off 239 balls. He hit 11 fours and sixes in his innings, batting at a strike rate of around 73. His innings ensured Pakistan went past 400 runs as the hosts finished their first innings on 448/6.
With the way Mohammad Rizwan was batting, he had a great chance to score a double but was denied. Captain Shan Masood’s move to unleash the pace attack in the final hour did not work as the Bangladesh National Cricket Team openers batted well and ensured that they finished the day without losing any wicket.
Rizwan’s 171 in the Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team is the closest score to a double century by a Pakistan batsman in a declared innings in Tests. The previous closest score was Zaheer Abbas’ 168 against India at Lahore in 1984. Abbas, remarkably, was also the captain.
