Mohsin Naqvi’s PCB penalizes Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf for fighting in the middle of the PSL 2026 match

Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf have been banned for their offensive gestures during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match on April 23. According to the latest reports, Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf have been fined 10% of their match fee for a Level 1 violation of the League Code of Conduct in the 34th match of PSL 2026.

The incident took place during Islamabad United’s match against Rawalpindiz at the National Stadium in Karachi. During the first innings of the game, Pindiz pacer Mohammad Amir asked the Islamabad batsman to leave the field aggressively. The pacemaker’s gesture started a heated moment between them.

Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf will have to pay sanctions

As per the latest updates, the PSL authority has found both the cricketers guilty of the incident. While Amir is accused of using profanity and provocative gestures, Ashraf is accused of disrupting the match.

Amir was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which refers to “Using language, actions or gestures that disparage or may provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman following his dismissal during a Match”, according to a media report.

The report further adds: Faheem Ashraf was found guilty of Article 2.21, which deals with ‘Disrepute of the Game’.

This is how the incident occurred in the middle of the game

The incident took place on the third ball of the 17th over of the first innings of the match, just after Amir dismissed the left-handed batsman. Seamer Mohammad Amir aggressively pointed the way to the dugout and asked to leave the field. The pitcher’s gesture did not sit well with the batter. Faheem Ashraf responded more aggressively.

He pointed his bat at the pitcher and returned some fiery words. As the players were in aggressive mode, the other players on the field had to intervene to calm the situation. Two Rawalpindiz fielders went to contain the batsman. Due to the heated moment, the match was stopped for a moment.

Batting first, Islamabad United posted only 137 runs on the challenging Karachi track. Mohammad Amir played well with a double. Rawalpindi’s batsmen did not have to work hard to claim the match. In 18.1 overs, they got the much-needed victory. After eight consecutive losses, Rawalpindiz recorded their first victory in the PSL.

“The credit definitely goes to our bowlers. The pitch was slightly better for the new ball, and the way Amir bowled alongside Asif Afridi in the powerplay was excellent. We wanted to limit them to a below-average score, and those 10-15 runs we saved made the difference, helping us win comfortably,” Rawalpindiz captain and Player of the Match Mohammad Rizwan said at the presentation ceremony.

Islamabad United coach got angry

In another incident, Islamabad United coach Luke Ronchi became enraged at a journalist during a press conference. The former New Zealand batsman became angry when the journalist started asking his question, interrupting another journalist’s question.
