MS Dhoni remains a household name that will be discussed within the cricket fraternity despite retiring from international cricket in 2020. He will soon be seen in IPL 2024 leading the Chennai Super Kings.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul in a recent conversation with MensXP spoke about MS Dhoni’s impact on international cricket and his impact on individual players throughout his career.
No one can compare to MS Dhoni: KL Rahul
The former Indian captain led India from 2007 to 2016 and won three ICC titles – T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy. In the process, he discovered many new players and turned them into match winners. Some of the senior Indian players played their best cricket under his captaincy.
Talking to MensXP KL Rahul said “I don’t think anyone can compare with MS Dhoni. “All of us in the team, when we say leader, when we say captain, MS Dhoni is the first name that comes to mind.”

His words certainly speak volumes about the kind of impact he has made with his captaincy in Indian cricket and the IPL. Next year he will reach the IPL as captain of CSK at 42 years of age.
The former Indian captain played the entire IPL 2023 with a knee injury. He underwent a successful knee surgery after winning the IPL 2023 title. Dhoni has had time to recover and when the IPL begins, he is expected to be fully fit to join and lead his IPL franchise. Dhoni spoke about playing one last season after winning his fifth IPL title with Chennai Super Kings.
“The easy thing for me is to say thank you and leave. But for all the love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them (to see me) play one more season.” Dhoni said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
