MS Dhoni is likely to miss another match in IPL 2026. He has been doing practices and drills during the training season, but for some reason, he is expected to miss another match for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
CSK will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 5 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It will be a match that both teams must win. The entire Chennai is probably waiting to see MS Dhoni play another match in CSK colours. But he is yet to play a match in IPL 2026.
MS Dhoni likely to miss DC match
Ahead of the DC vs CSK match, there are huge speculations that the former cricketer may make his first appearance in the ongoing season. But recent updates suggest a different story. RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan claims that MS Dhoni is not traveling to Delhi.
“MS will not travel to Delhi,” Rohit reported on Sunday, May 3.

In the comment box of the post, one of MS Dhoni’s fans expressed that they find it irritating as there is no clarity on the 44-year-old’s availability. During the development of several CSK matches in IPL 2026, there were speculations about the former captain’s chances of playing a match. When will he play, if he will play or not, there are many questions about MSD without a proper answer.
“Honestly, as an MSD fan, this is just irritating. Play or quit, or at least communicate it properly to all the fans. This whole drama is not funny anymore,” wrote an MS Dhoni fan in the comment of the post.
CSK’s current form makes title race more interesting
After a tumultuous start during the initial stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League campaign, slowly but surely, Chennai Super Kings have been progressing up the points table. From last position in the league, they now sit sixth in the 10-team points table and remain in the title race. In their previous 5 games, CSK managed to win 3 matches, ahead of Delhi Capitals.
Delhi Capitals are currently in 7th place with 8 points, one notch below their next opponent. The winner of the match on May 5 will claim 2 more points and with 10 points the team will move closer to the top four. Interestingly, Gujarat Titans, the 5th team in the table, which has 10 points from 9 matches, has a net run rate of -0.192, while CSK’s net run rate is now +0.005, better than that of Gujarat Titans.
CSK’s young stars also progress
The remaining matches of the league are going to be very crucial for most of the teams. Ahead of the season, the Chennai Super Kings management took a bold decision by banking on a bunch of emerging talent, supported by experienced batsmen like Sanju Samson and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. The team’s young stars like Kartik Sharma, Urvil Patel and Ramakrishna Ghosh are expected to be the stars of CSK in the future.
