Meanwhile, former India coach Bhupinder Singh recently spoke about why the BCCI decided to pick him as captain in 2007. He led the team in all formats for almost a decade and achieved great success. He won the T20 World Cup, the ODI World Cup and the Champions Trophy.

“As well as being an automatic pick in the team, consideration is given to the player’s cricketing acumen, body language, ability to lead from the front and man management skills. We saw MS Dhoni’s approach to the game, the body language, how he talked to others; We received a positive response,” Singh told Hindustan Times in an interview.

The Indian team will play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is in the West Indies next month. The BCCI has decided to stick with the veteran players of the series. Rohit Sharma will remain as tour captain. However, the board is anxiously looking for his replacement as soon as possible.
