Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler Simarjeet Singh has spoken about MS Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that he wants the wicketkeeper-batsman to play in the 2025 edition of the league as he wants to play with him and learn from him.
The future remains uncertain for MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is unclear whether the wicketkeeper-batsman will play for Chennai Super Kings in another season or not. The fact that he is over 40 means there is very little chance of him not playing in the league as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
But with Dhoni, no one knows what will come next. The wicketkeeper-batsman recently hinted at a few events that he has not decided whether he wants to play or not, but there were reports that he would decide once the BCCI releases the retention rules.
After the 2023 edition of the tournament, which was won by Chennai Super Kings under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the wicketkeeper-batsman stated that he will play another season for the fans, which will be a comeback gift from his side.
Ahead of the start of IPL 2024, Dhoni gave a major hint about his final season. He decided to hand over the captaincy of the team to youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad. But it didn’t have a fairytale ending as Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify.
However, since then, there has been no clarity on MS Dhoni’s future. There have been reports that he might play in the IPL 2025 as an uncapped player. This is because the BCCI is considering re-introducing the old rule, which allows players to remain in the uncapped category.
Dhoni was also battling a knee problem during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He was unable to bat due to the injury and hence came out to bat only in the later overs, playing scintillating cameos. He aggregated 161 runs in 14 matches and scored at a strike rate of 220.25.
Simarjeet Singh wants MS Dhoni to play in IPL 2025
With no clarity on Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Simarjeet Singh was asked whether the wicketkeeper-batsman would play in the 2025 edition of the league or not.
Responding to this, Simarjeet Singh mentioned that only Dhoni knows whether he will play in IPL 2025 or not. However, he expressed his desire to watch the wicketkeeper-batsman play as he said that he wants to learn from the former Chennai Super Kings captain. Speaking to SportsYaari, he explained:
“I want him to play because I want to play more with him and learn.”
It remains to be seen whether MS Dhoni will play in the IPL 2025. The BCCI is likely to announce the retention policy for the upcoming season soon. The 2025 edition of the league will also see a grand auction.
