South Africa captain Neil Brand broke several records after picking 6 wickets against New Zealand in New Zealand’s first Test against South Africa. The left-arm spinner took a six-wicket haul on his Test debut and stole a string of records in his name.

The best bowling performance on Test debut by a South African player is that of Lance Klusener, who took 8 wickets for 64 runs against India in November 1996.

South Africa get off to a poor start in batting
Meanwhile, Neil Brand failed to lead South Africa to a powerful bowling show against New Zealand. With a double century from Rachin Ravindra (240) and a century from Kane Williamson (118), the Kiwis recorded a mammoth 511-10 in the first innings.
