Former Australian captain Michael Clarke had some harsh words for England pacemaker Ollie Robinson for his sending off Usman Khawaja at Edgbaston. He criticized it, saying that he wouldn’t have even had a game if other pacers had been fit and commented that he should concentrate on taking wickets instead of these things.

Ollie Robinson found himself on the receiving end of some heavy jabs after aggressively sending off Usman Khawaja. He was seen yelling “Fuck you fucking idiot” to the pacer after he took out Khawaja in the early innings of the game at Edgbaston.

Michael Clarke said Ollie Robinson needs to shut up and said he doesn’t understand what he’s doing. The former Australian captain further said that if either Jofra Archer or Mark Wood had been fit, he would play for the clubs again. Speaking on the Big Sports Breakfast, he said:

“He needs to shut up. If England were top form you wouldn’t even play, Ollie. If Joffra Archer was playing, or if (Chris) Wood had been playing and was fully fit, old man, I don’t know what city he plays in, he’d play clubs again. Actually, I don’t know what he is doing.

Ashes 2023: “This guy has been around for five minutes,” says Michael Clarke

Michael Clarke went on to say that if James Anderson had sent that farewell then it was understandable. But Ollie Robinson has been around for 5 minutes and he needs to focus on taking wickets. Michael Clarke explained:

“If James Anderson is saying all this, he has street cred. He has played 180 test matches, he has a lot of wickets. This guy’s been around for five minutes. He needs to focus on taking wickets… Ollie he just keeps taking five and then you can say what you want”.

However, Ollie Robinson himself spoke about the parting, saying that he was engrossed in the moment and even had a conversation with Usman Khawaja afterwards. The second match between the two teams will kick off on June 28 at London’s iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
