Abdullah Shafique easily caught David Warner during the ongoing second Test of PAK vs AUS at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium. David Warner took a ball in the third over from Shaheen Afridi that went straight to Abdullah Shafique at first slip.

However, Abdullah Shafique couldn’t take an easy catch to provide huge relief to the Australian opener. The second PAK vs AUS Test began in Melbourne on Tuesday, December 26. Pat Cummins is the captain of Australia while Shan Masood is the captain of Pakistan. Australia leads the series 1-0 after winning the opening match.

WATCH- Abdullah Shafique drops easy catch by David Warner

Pakistan almost made a breakthrough early in the match. In Shaheen Afridi’s third over, David Warner got a lead which went straight to Abdullah Shafique at first slip. However, the left-handed batsman failed to pick up the ball. Shaheen Afridi was shocked to witness the failed capture. Check out the video below.

Notably, David Warner had scored only 2 runs off 11 balls at that time. Later, David Warner scored 38 runs off 83 balls. He was subsequently fired by Agha Salman. Warner and Usman Khawaja managed to put up a strong opening stand of 90 runs.

Pakistan opted to bowl in the second Test

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss in the PAK vs AUS second Test and opted to bowl first. The match was affected by rain in the 1st session. Until the rain, Australia reached 114/2 in 42.4 overs. They lost David Warner (38) and Usman Khawaja (42).

The latter was dismissed by Hasan Ali. Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith take the lead with 14 and 2 unbeaten runs respectively. Meanwhile, Pakistan pacer Khurram Shahzad was ruled out of the series due to injury.

Hasan Ali replaced him in the second PAK vs AUS Test. Mir Hamza was also included among the 11 players to replace Faheem Ashraf in the match. Mohammad Rizwan replaced Sarfaraz Ahmed as goalkeeper. The rest of the team was the same as the 1st Test.

Pakistan lost the first Test by 360 runs

Earlier, Pakistan lost the opening Test by 360 runs. Australia accumulated 487-10 in the match in the first innings. Later, they defeated Pakistan for 271, taking a huge lead after the end of the first innings.

Australia later declared their innings at 233/5, setting a mammoth total of 450 for Pakistan. The visitors succumbed to such a mammoth target and were bowled out for 89. Mitchell Marsh won the player of the match award for his half-centuries in both innings.
