Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt lashed out at the Pakistan cricket team after the loss to India in the T20 World Cup 2024. He said it was a tragic loss for the team as they found a way to lose the I play from the winning position once again. .

Pakistan’s torrid run in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 continued as they faced a poor loss to India. The match between the two arch-rivals took place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday (June 9).

Pakistan looked favorites to win the game because they were in control most of the time. They bundled Team India out for just 119 runs and with the way their pacers were bowling, they had momentum and looked clear favorites to win.

They also started pretty well in the chase. Pakistan lost captain Babar Azam (13) early but Mohammad Rizwan kept the team in the fight. They were cruising and were 56/1 at one point. At that point, it was almost certain that they would win the game the way they were going.

But Jasprit Bumrah tilted the match in favor of his team. The fast bowler removed Mohammad Rizwan with the peach and was then supported well by Hardik Pandya as India changed the entire complexion of the game, restricting them to 113 to win the game by 6 runs.

Salman Butt noted that it was an easy game to win for Pakistan as they had wickets in hand. Although he called the loss “tragic,” he claimed they created excitement only to lose the game. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

“Another tragic loss. If we talk about the Pakistan cricket team, I must say that unfortunately it was a tragic loss. Pakistan has once again found a way to lose a match. “It was a simple game, they had wickets in hand, but we found a way to create excitement and then lose it.”

Indian team kept their nerve, there was no panic – Salman Butt

Salman Butt further praised the Indian team and said that the Rohit Sharma-led team kept its nerve and did not panic at all. He also claimed that India did not bat well as they could have scored 150 runs. He added:

“The Indian team held their nerve, there was no panic and seemed relaxed. The Indian batsmen lost their wickets and Pakistan also played well. India could have reached the 150-run mark as the wicket in New York was not that bad.”

Pakistan have now faced two consecutive defeats in their two matches of the T20 World Cup 2024. Their chances of qualifying for the Super 8 phase now look very bleak. It won’t be a surprise if they face early elimination from the tournament as they only have two matches left.
