PAK vs CAN: Watch – Basit Ali cries on live TV and criticizes Babar Azam after Pakistan’s loss to India in T20 World Cup

Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali visibly broke down in tears after Rohit Sharma’s India team defeated Pakistan by 5 runs yesterday in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The arch-rivals met at the Nassau County Stadium in New York in what was the second T20 World Cup group stage match for both teams. Thanks to the win, India are now just one win away from securing qualification for the Super 8, while Pakistan might have to wait a while before knowing their scenario.

Pakistan’s Super 8 qualification scenario

Currently, everything depends on the results they obtain in the remaining group matches against Canada and Ireland. Babar Azam and company. We must do everything we can to get the 4 points and then hope that the Indian team and the Irish team defeat the United States. If that happens, then Pakistan’s chances of coming out ahead will increase, but things could also depend on the net run rate.

The blow they suffered after consecutive defeats against the United States and India will not only affect them on the points table, but will also have a negative impact on their morale. First, the Super Over loss against the United States and then yesterday’s 5-run loss has made it much harder for them to bounce back in the 20-team tournament.

After the defeat they suffered against India from a winning situation, former Pakistani cricketers joined in with criticism. From Shahid Afridi to Mohammad Hafeez, from Wasim Akram to Waqar Younis, everyone is criticizing the Pakistan team and its players. Former batsman Basit Ali has also joined the list now.

Basit Ali claims Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam don’t care about Pakistan

While speaking to a Pakistan-based local news channel, Basit Ali was absolutely shattered to see his former national team failing to score just 120 runs off 120 balls. Ali was apparently disappointed, so he decided to launch a scathing attack on some players, namely Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam.

Basit Ali started by saying that current Pakistani cricketers feel that he is a traitor just because he attends cricket shows and talks about Pakistan cricket. Ali’s eyes filled with tears when he admitted that he was going to be Pakistani forever until his last day and that he was a nationalist.

Basit Ali then stated that it bothers him to see the team play because the players he himself had selected for the Under-19 team are playing very poorly. Shadab, Shaheen and Babaar are players who were given opportunities by Ali.

“When we sit here and talk, they say we are traitors and speak against the nation. I was Pakistani, I am Pakistani and I will always be Pakistani. These guys are annoying. They were literally kids when I had them. We picked them for the under-19 team, whether Shaheen, Shadab or Babar, and this is how you play against them? They don’t care about the country,” Basit Ali said.
