Chasing the target, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Rahul Tewatia contributed runs in the 30s to take GT to a 3-wicket win in the reverse match.

At the post-match presentation ceremony, Shubman Gill said that he would have liked to finish the match against PBKS early. Shubman Gill stated:

“I would have liked to finish a little earlier, but it’s good to get those two points.”

Talking about his captaincy, Shubman Gill said that things have been going well for him apart from the slow overrating. Shubman Gill said:

“(Captain) It has been very exciting for me to be able to take on this role. Except for the overrating, everything has gone well. When I am batting, I just want to play as a batsman, I don’t.” “I don’t want to think too much about the captaincy.”

Talking about his small altercation with Liam Livingstone, who did an aggressive celebration after firing him. Shubman Gill said:

“He (Livingstone) was trying to rush me there, but with the ball I got out, I would have made that decision even if I was batting or even without that little bit we had (little altercation).”

What happened in the previous match of IPL 2024 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT)

In the 17th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024), GT and PBKS faced each other on April 4, 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium and in that match emerged PBKS batsman Shashank Singh, who played blindfold. He helped his team register a thrilling 3-wicket victory with 1 ball remaining.

Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match. The bowlers did not look impressive in the innings and allowed GT to post a massive total of 199/4 on the board, riding on Shubman Gill’s sensational 89-run knock and decent contributions from other batsmen. For Punjab Kings, Kagiso Rabada bagged two wickets, while Harpreet Brar and Harshal Patel got one wicket each.

Chasing the target, the Punjab Kings top order once again struggled to get going and lost half their team for 111 runs. It looked like PBKS would lose the match and hand an easy victory to GT but it didn’t happen as Shashank Singh joined forces with Ashutosh Sharma to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Shashank Singh scored 61 runs while Ashutosh Sharma scored 31 runs to help PBKS win the match by 3 wickets.
