Fans on Twitter react after Gujarat Titans defeated Punjab Kings in game 37 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur in Chandigarh saw Gujarat win their 4th game of the season by 3 wickets.
Punjab won the toss and opted to bat first. They got off to a great start with the bat as Prabhsimran Singh (35) and Sam Curran (20) played well at the top. They added 52 runs for the opening stand and it looked like it was about to be another high scoring thriller.
But after that, the Gujarat spinners turned the game in their team’s favor and rattled the home team with quick wickets in the middle. The batsmen seemed clueless against the spinners and gave away their wickets, putting the team under pressure.
Harpreet Brar (29) finally dealt some blows in the end and took his team past 140. Punjab were all out for 142. Sai Kishore picked four wickets, Noor Ahmad two and Rashid Khan contributed one. Mohit Sharma also claimed 2 wickets with the ball.
In the chase, Gujarat Titans lost Wriddhiman Saha early. But captain Shubman Gill (35) and Sai Sudharsan (31) brought the team back into the game with their 41-run stand. Punjab Kings made a slight comeback by eliminating wickets in quick succession.
But after that, Rahul Tewatia (36*) once again stood up for his team when the chips were down. He did what he does best under pressure and took his team home with 3 wickets in hand and recorded their 4th win of the season.
