Fans on Twitter reacted after Mumbai Indians defeated Punjab Kings by 9 runs in the 33rd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The game between the two teams took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra International Cricket Stadium Singh in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, on Thursday (April 18).
Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first and had a decent outing with the bat. Although they lost Ishan Kishan early, Rohit Sharma (36) and Suryakumar Yadav (78) batted superbly well and put their team in dominant position in Chandigarh.
Tilak Varma (33*) also played a vital role in the order that propelled Mumbai Indians to the grand total. The Hardik Pandya-led team finished with a total of 192 runs. For Punjab Kings, Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 3/31.
Mumbai were then magnificent with the ball as they picked the first wickets and made the Punjab Kings batsman look clueless. Jasprit Bumrah and Gelard Coetzee combined to leave the opposition team reeling at 77/6 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Thursday (April 18).
However, there was a twist in the story when Shashank Singh (41) and Ashutosh Sharma (61) brought their team back into the game with their sensational batting display. They tilted the game in favor of their team.
Ashutosh Sharma in the end gave a real scare to the Mumbai players, but the Hardik Pandya-led team held their nerve well in the end and won the game by 9 runs. With the win, they moved to seventh place in the IPL 2024 points table.
