The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given an update on spinner Abrar Ahmed’s injury after the third day of the ongoing four-day warm-up game between Pakistan and the Australian Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra.
Abrar Ahmed had to leave the field on the third day of the game after bowling 27 overs in the game. The PCB has confirmed that the player was removed from the field after complaining of discomfort in his right leg. Before leaving the field, Abrar had bowled eight overs on the third day. He was sent for an MRI and the PCB is currently awaiting the results.
“Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed complained of discomfort in his right leg after bowling eight overs on the third day of a four-day game against the Prime Minister’s XI. As a result, the 25-year-old was removed from the field.
“After his complaint, Abrar was sent to have an MRI. More details will be shared in due course after the medical panel evaluates the MRI reports,” the PCB stated.
Abrar Ahmed has got one wicket in the game so far. He dismissed opener Marcus Harris for 49 to give the visitors the much-needed breakthrough after the pacers failed to provide it. Harris shared a 96-run stand with Cameron Bancroft for the opening wicket.
Pakistan bowlers struggle:
Pakistan’s bowlers have started their tour of Australia on a poor note as they have so far struggled to make an impact against the PM XI. At the end of the third day, PM XI were 367 for 4 with Matt Renshaw unbeaten on 136, and Beau Webster on 21 giving him company. Early in the game, an unbeaten knock of 201 runs by captain Shan Masood helped Pakistan declare their innings at 391 for 9.
