It was a stunning effort by Radha Yadav to send back Plimmer, who looked set to score big.

Radha Yadav took a fabulous diving catch at short medium to dismiss Georgia Plimmer on the third delivery of the 16th over off Deepti Sharma’s bowling. It was a surprising effort to return to Plimmer, who looked set to score a big goal.

Deepti bowled a longer delivery on mid-on and outside off stump, to which Plimmer looked to make a move in the leg-side region but played his shot a little early. The ball took the inner half of the willow tree and flew towards the central region, where Radha was a little deeper.

However, the defender immediately ran towards the ball and launched herself into the air to extend her reach. He went with both hands towards the catch, and just as he was falling, Radha caught him and made sure that the ball did not slip out of his hands as he came down by removing one hand from the ball.

Radha made another fantastic catch as she ran back and made another full horizontal jump to send back Brooke Halliday. It is never easy to make such catches, but he kept his eyes on the ball at all times and made a timely dive to grab it just above the surface.

New Zealand lost three quick wickets after a steady start

After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bat first and made a steady start. Openers Georgia Plimmer and Suzie Bates played their shots and put the Indian bowlers in trouble immediately.

The partnership was going well before Deepti made the first breakthrough (thanks to an excellent catch by Radha) and India made a slight comeback in the game. They removed three batters in quick succession to get things under control.

From 87/0, the Kiwis were reduced to 114/3, losing Georgia Plimmer (41), Suzie Bates (58) and Lauren Down (3) in quick succession. Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav snared a wicket each, while Lauren ran out.

At the moment, New Zealand are 135/3 after the end of 29 overs, with Sophie Devine (25) and Brooke Halliday (6) at the crease. India will look to eliminate these two immediately and restrict New Zealand to as low a target as possible.
